The Leadership

MARGRITH LUTSCHG EMMENEGGER 

Director - Iridium Sicav Plc

Margrith’s speciality area is in Trade Finance with a special focus on Forfaiting and Factoring. Her professional life includes working first with Barclays Bank, and then with Midland Bank Aval in London before joining West Merchant Bank (now WestLB AG) where she held responsibility for the Global forfaiting and factoring within WestLB AG. Margrith joined FIM Bank on the 1st April 2003 as Executive Vice President, responsible for Business Development and was appointed to President on the 1st September 2004. She retired as President on the 31st December 2014, after more than a decade as President to become an Advisor to the FIMBank Group and other industry members.

She is the author of “A Guide to Forfaiting” published by Euromoney in 1998.

In March 2014 she was awarded the highest decoration of the Republic of Malta, that of the National Order Of Merit in recognition of “Exceptional Contribution towards the common good of the Maltese and development of Malta as a financial centre”.

She is currently Managing Director for Europe at TradeAssets, Dubai and Singapore, Advisor to the Board of Visolent in India and COO of Trade Finance Market.

PHILIPPE PRONOST

Director - Iridium Sicav Plc

Philippe is a financial expert and consultant with an extensive experience in M&A, investments, divestments, fund raising, and international business development. He has a significant track record in portfolio management for private equity / real estate funds and family offices/HNWI.

He has been board member in a dozen small to large cap companies in France and abroad (including Française des Jeux, a private equity investment company with Qatar Investment Authority, a private equity fund with Mubadala (UAE), etc.

Philippe Pronost has also worked for the Caisse des Dépôts Group (France) from 2011 to 2019 as Deputy Managing Director of the company that prefigured CDC International Capital (with an investment capacity of nearly €4 billion, and more than €900 million invested since 2014). He was in charge of the coordination of investments, and was closely involved in the interactions and development of investment vehicles with its foreign Sovereign Wealth Fund partners.

He began his career in audit at Arthur Andersen before taking up investment functions for a period of nearly 15 years in private equity and portfolio management at the State Investments Agency (Agence des Participations de l’Etat), as a partner of Argos Wityu LBO fund, and as a partner of a capital growth fund (investing on behalf of the Bouygues and Pinault families).

He is a graduate of EDHEC, and holds a Board member certification from CAS IFA - Sciences Po (June 2018).

 

CHRISTOPHER VELLA 

Director - Iridium Sicav plc and 3514 Capital SCC plc

Christopher is a qualified Mathematician and Actuary, and possesses extensive experience in market analysis, special situation financing and venture capital, and is an expert in modelling operative and financial structures. His analytical opinions on investment opportunities have featured in several special editorials in The Times, International Herald Tribune, USA Today and Forbes. He has held several commercial and investment director roles in corporations developing their export markets or new investments, and in 2011, founded Polymath & Boffin Limited, an Investment Advisory for Investees and Qualified Investors developing business products and finance solutions, focused on assisting clients in attaining a higher level of security and return from their investment. Polymath & Boffin has so far serviced assets valued at €2.05 billion. ​

Marlon Borg

Director - Special Servicing and 3514 Capital SCC plc

Marlon is a qualified lawyer and partner at Inari Law. Having a decade of experience practising in civil and commercial law, Marlon specialises in special servicing, contract negotiation, dispute resolution and litigation, particularly in the areas of real estate, retail, hospitality, manufacturing and transport, and has advised local and international clients in the course of major projects in such industries.

Marlon is a member of the Malta Chamber of Advocates and the Malta Business Chamber, has occupied the post of vice-Chairman of the Players and Coaches Complaints Board within the Malta Football Association for the past eight years, and has also, on several occasions, been invited to lecture qualified architects, civil engineers and valuers on legal aspects of property valuations.

Gabriele Bottaci

Director & Finance Manager - 3514 Capital SCC plc

Gabriele is a qualified financial analyst with a 15 years’ experience, focused on the fundamental analysis in structured financial transactions. His experience has served several boutique consultancy firms in Rome, being exposed to numerous transactions, mainly in project financing, M&A and corporate restructuring. Since 2017 he joined Polymath & Boffin, an Investment Advisory for Investees and Qualified Investors developing business products and finance solutions, being involved in origination and structuring of NPL transactions, special project financing and corporate restructuring deals.  

Alejandro Borg

Company Secretary & Compliance Manager - 3514 Capital SCC plc

Alejandro is a lawyer specialising in financial services regulation. He has several years of experience advising and assisting clients within the various sectors of the financial services industry, primarily in investment services, banking, insurance, pensions and financial markets. He also assists clients in the pursuance of corporate transactions such as mergers, acquisitions and restructuring projects, and the provision of ongoing legal, regulatory advisory and corporate services.

Alejandro is approved by the Malta Financial Services Authority to act as a Director and Compliance Officer of licensed entities, and holds several positions as Company Secretary of entities including companies licensed by the said Authority or admitted on the Prospects MTF. He is also approved by the Malta Stock Exchange to act as a qualified person and director of a Corporate Advisor registered by the Malta Stock Exchange.

Alejandro is a member of the Chamber of Advocates and Institute of Financial Services Practitioners, and appointed as a member of several committees within the financial services industry. He also holds certifications issued by the Malta Institute of Management, Malta Institute of Taxation and Institute of Financial Services Practitioners.
